Product Overview
Single-Wall Carbon Nanohorns (SWCNHs) feature a unique quasi-spherical or conical structure composed of a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal graphite-like lattice. Their tips consist of curved formations of five- and six-membered carbon rings. Unlike carbon nanotubes, SWCNHs lack a pronounced long axis and exhibit a more compact morphology. The surface of SWCNHs is highly chemically active, particularly at the tip regions and edge sites, allowing for various chemical modifications such as oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymer grafting. These treatments can tailor surface properties like hydrophilicity and biocompatibility. While SWCNHs remain stable under ambient conditions, extreme environments—such as high temperature, strong acids, or alkalis—may induce structural changes or surface reactions.
