Product Overview
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were first introduced by Yaghi’s team in 2005. These materials feature highly ordered porous structures and customizable functions. COFs are crystalline porous polymers formed from lightweight elements—such as C, H, O, and N—connected via strong covalent bonds. They are synthesized through the polymerization of small organic molecules. To achieve high crystallinity, the structure undergoes continuous covalent bond reorganization. Common synthesis reactions include boronic acid condensation, Schiff base reactions, and C-C coupling. Widely used methods include solvothermal, microwave-assisted, and mechanochemical synthesis.
